Common Misconceptions About Workwear

Written by iSB Group | Dec 16, 2016 9:00:59 AM

Many people already have some preconceived notions about workwear. If your employees mention any of these common misconceptions about workwear, here is some information you can use to help set the record straight.

#1. Workwear is expensive

While it’s true that workwear is associated with certain occupations, the idea that buying this clothing has to cost an arm and a leg is simply not true. Many items are comparable in price to other clothing, and our regular sales make it possible to enjoy even greater savings.

#2. Workwear is only suitable for work

Workwear these days is surprisingly fashionable, which is why people often wear items such as our jackets, vests, hoodies, and t-shirts while on and off the clock. Many times, others are virtually unable to tell that someone is wearing PPE.

#3. Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is not required in a dangerous environment. I can choose whether or not I would like to wear it.

If a workplace has been classified as hazardous or dangerous, employees must follow the appropriate regulations concerning PPE. Doing so is not optional, so individuals could face fines, penalties, or even the loss of their jobs by refusing to comply.

#4. Employers are not required to purchase PPE for their employees, so workers must pay for workwear out of their own pockets.

Employers have a duty to protect their employees who work in hazardous or dangerous environments, and are therefore prohibited from forcing workers to pay for their own PPE. This is where we come in, making it as easy as possible for you to provide the appropriate workwear for everyone on your jobsite.

#5. There are long lead times for obtaining workwear

Here at ISB Group, we know that if you are in need of workwear, you do not have time to wait. Same or next-day shipping is often available, which is why we invite you to contact us any time you need workwear in a hurry.
