Yes, they do!
Sadly, many manufacturers use the same mould or ‘last’ to make all their safety footwear, simply changing the colours and offering smaller sizes in their ranges targeted to women.
But women’s feet are, on average, very different to men’s.
Women’s feet tend to be narrower and usually have heels slimmer in relation to the width of the balls of their feet. A woman may also have a higher arch, a shallower big toe, a lower instep, a more curved inside line and an achilles tendon that is smaller and higher than a man’s might typically be.
And that’s not all.
Women and men even walk differently, with women tending to take more frequent, shorter strides and be more prone to pronating their feet (rolling them inwards) as they walk (something that wearing the right footwear can correct!).
